Ancelotti addresses Roma rumours and Como talent Nico Paz

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti shared his thoughts on various football topics during a recent interview with Radio Anch’Io lo Sport on Radio1. The Italian coach addressed the situation at Milan and Roma, the Serie A title race, and the promising young talent Nico Paz.

Commenting on Paulo Fonseca’s recent dismissal from AC Milan, Ancelotti reflected on the nature of coaching: “I still believe that being sacked is part of a coach’s job. I’ve been sacked a thousand times. It’s not fair, but unfortunately, that’s how it is. A coach is quite alone in his work, especially in difficult moments.”

He added, “We can discuss the method, but in the end, the result is that the coach stops coaching and is sent away. This happens when you do this job, but as they say, when one door closes, another opens.”

Ancelotti also spoke about Nico Paz, a Real Madrid player currently on loan at Como: “Paz is a player we’re following closely. He’s very good and a great talent. This training season away from Real is doing him a lot of good. We believe he’s a player who could be the future of Real Madrid.”

Addressing rumors about a potential move to Roma, Ancelotti stated: “There’s a lot of talk about Roma, but I’m very happy here. I’m working to stay here as long as possible. Ranieri is a friend and is doing very well, I’m very happy for him. I’m obviously very attached to Roma, where I always have great memories, but there’s many a slip ‘twixt the cup and the lip. For now, I’m happy here and I’m not thinking about my future.”

The Real Madrid coach then discussed the ongoing challenges at the Spanish club: “In Madrid, the circle never closes. In eight days, there’s already a new objective, which is the Supercup. But this is good because it keeps you motivated. I still have a two-year contract here, but contracts can be broken or extended.”

Ancelotti concluded by sharing his thoughts on VAR: “VAR has brought advantages, but when the decision is subjective, like for a penalty, there will always be discussions. Technology has helped referees, and there’s also more respect in the relationship with players.”
