1.20 Coral Glorious Stakes (Group 3) 1m4f
The veteran Al Aasy won this last year in good style and he comes here with every chance again but there is little value in his price. ARABIAN CROWN does have a bit to prove but he remains unexposed over a mile and a half and at least shaped better when third at Newmarket last month. I get the impression he can improve on that again and if he handles this track he could be a big danger in the closing stages.
Meydaan has also proved a little disappointing but if he gets back to the form that saw him chase home Liberty Lane at this track he could get involved. He still has to prove it over this trip though which is why I’ve sided with the selection.
Trends
- 8 of the last 12 winners were aged 4 or 5
- 7 of the last 12 winners were favourites
- 5 of the last 12 winners won on their last run before
- 12 of the last 12 winners were rated 108 or higher
Bet on ARABIAN CROWN to win at 4/1 with bet365
1.55 Coral Summer Handicap (Class 2) 1m4f
There are quite a few of these that have obvious claims so I wanted to side with one at a nice price and DURAJI fits the bill. This full brother to Ghaiyyath has only had a handful of starts and now handicapping he could bounce back in a big way. He fits all the trends and despite running poorly at Down Royal could be ready to leave all previous form behind. He has been freshened up and Ryan Moore has been booked so it wouldn’t surprise me if he turned into a bit of a gamble.
French Duke is likely to go off favourite but he needs to prove he wants this far and I did expect better at Royal Ascot. Aeronautic looks well handicapped but the trip is a bit of a concern.
Trends
- 11 of the last 12 winners were aged between 4 and 6
- 3 of the last 12 winners were favourites or joint favourites
- 9 of the last 12 winners carried 9 stone 7lb or less
- 10 of the last 12 winners had a rating of 95 or higher
Bet on DURAJI each way at 11/1 with bet365
2.30 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (Fillies’ & Mares’ Group 2) 1m6f
The tough and likeable TERM OF ENDEARMENT knuckled down well to win this last year when with Henry de Bromhead. She is yet to kick on for her new yard but did go close at York on penultimate start and wasn’t beaten far in a good race at Sandown last month. She sets the standard and given we know she likes the track I can see her being hard to beat with the yard still going great guns.
Goodie Two Shoes is eyeing up a four-timer and with the ground drying out she could definitely emerge as one of the key players. Waardah improved to win at this track when last seen and despite this being tougher and the drying ground a concern she is still considered.
Trends
- 9 of the last 12 winners were aged 4 or older
- 6 of the last 12 winners were favourites or joint favourites and 9 of 12 top 3 in the betting
- 9 of the last 12 winners had a rating of 98 or higher
- 7 of the last 12 winners had at least 1 previous Group 1-3 win
Bet on TERM OF ENDEARMENT to win at 3/1 with bet365
3.05 Coral Stewards’ Cup (Heritage Handicap) 6f
The Stewards’ Cup is always a fascinating punting puzzle and it can pay to back two or three in the race given the each way terms on offer. I have decided to put all my eggs in the PUROSANGUE basket this year though as he looks to have a massive chance. I know he was down the field in this last year but he did too much in the early stages and had excuses. He has been shaping like he is ready to peak recently and looks off a fair mark so with Buick booked looks set to go close.
Elmonjed won narrowly at York but tanked into that. He needs to be delivered late but has a chance. Circe is a filly that is finally putting it together winning 3 of her last 4 and with Ryan Moore up is another one who should get seriously competitive.
Trends
- 8 of the last 12 winners were aged between 3 and 5
- 3 of the last 12 winners were favourites or joint favourites
- 11 of the last 12 winners carried 9 stone 6lb or less
- 9 of the last 12 winners were rated 101 or higher
Bet on PUROSANGUE each way at 8/1 with bet365
3.45 Whispering Angel Handicap (Class 2) 7f
It has been a great week for trainer Ralph Beckett and he might not be done yet as the progressive EL MATADOR could run a big race here. He was heavily backed to get off the mark at Salisbury and then landed a gamble again when following up at Chepstow last time. Given time since and now handicapping he could improve again and is a colt to keep on side.
Mudbir is also unexposed and has won 2 of his last 3 so could step forward enough to be a big player. Headmaster came good as expected at Haydock last month and I know they think quite a bit of him so if he progresses again now handicapping could also get involved.
Bet on EL MATADOR each way at 7/1 with bet365
4.20 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (Class 2) 7f
Most of these have only had the one start so not much form to go on but what we do know is ISAAC NEWTON looked really promising going close on debut and represents powerful connections. He cost nearly 400,000 guineas as a yearling and that maiden at the Curragh looked a really good race visually. The winner New Zealand looks quite exciting and I thought the third Action was a huge eye-catcher. He holds a Group entry going forward and they will be disappointed if he can’t go one better and get off the mark.
Blue Point colt Exclusive Code has a similar profile having shaped with considerable ability to finish fourth on debut. The form has already been franked with the third Lost Signal winning readily since. He will improve and give the favourite most to think about.
Bet on ISAAC NEWTON to win at 1/1 with bet365
4.55 Coral Golden Rewards Shaker Handicap (Class 3) 1m1f
A tough handicap to close out but I have been waiting to see TREASURE TIME again and I’m confident he is good value to beat the favourite. He shaped as though he’d improve bundles for that reappearance fifth at Sandown and up slightly in trip clearly has plenty in his favour now. He has been left off an unchanged mark and still has potential to rate a lot higher. His York win last year really sticks in my mind and I’ll be amazed if he is not capable of better yet.
Gladius is completely unexposed and has impressed winning 2 of his 3 starts to date. If he comes forward again he will get involved. Boyfriend was only beaten a length at Newmarket and has run well at this track before so looks worthy of an each way saver at the prices as he is around 8/1.
Bet on TREASURE TIME each way at 9/2 with bet365
My top tip for Saturday’s racing at Glorious Goodwood 2025
Horses for courses! TERM OF ENDEARMENT won this race last year and she caught the eye at York before acquitting herself well in a better race last time. She will likely always be well positioned by Tom Marquand and rates the one to beat.
ISAAC NEWTON is likely to be all the rage and with natural improvement should build on his debut run and get off the mark in the penultimate race on the card.
Bet a Win Double on TERM OF ENDEARMENT and ISAAC NEWTON at 7/1 with bet365
