Andy Reid held back tears as he discussed the Kansas City Chiefs coming up short in their quest for a historic three-peat.

The head coach appears emotional in a new fly-on-the-wall documentary from ESPN that charts their 2024 NFL season.

Kansas City made it all the way to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, where they were blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in dramatic fashion.

The documentary, titled The Kingdom, features never-before-seen interviews with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, veteran tight end Travis Kelce — who contemplated retirement this year — and Reid.

“It’s our life, and it’s an emotional game,” the teary-eyed Chiefs head coach says in the official trailer.

Super Bowl LIX, which saw Kansas City bid to become the first team to hoist the Lombardi Trophy three times in a row, ended in disaster.

Philadelphia secured a 40-22 win inside the Caesars Superdome, ending any dreams the Chiefs had of making history.

‘Big Red’ spoke earlier this year about ‘moping around’ after the devastating loss.

“It was a bad day to have a bad day — for sure,” he told reporters, reflecting on the Super Bowl back in February.

“Like all games, you can learn some things from it.

“It hurts for a few days and then you move on quickly.

“You get about three days into it (where) you mope around a little bit — and then, all of a sudden, you’re onto free agency and you’re doing your thing.”

Star quarterback Mahomes also detailed the expectations the Chiefs have each season in the teaser for the new documentary.

“Every year, that’s the only goal that you have — win the Super Bowl,” he said.

“If we don’t win it, it’s a failure.”

The loss in New Orleans likely hurt Mahomes more than most, as he had one of his worst days in a Chiefs uniform.

He was the betting favorite to win MVP of Super Bowl LIX heading into the pursuit of a record third straight championship, but by half-time, the game was already out of reach.

He blamed himself for the loss afterwards.

Mahomes finished 21-for-32 for 257 passing yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, as well as a fumble.

But most of his positive stats came in the fourth quarter, when the Super Bowl was already lost.

The quarterback was also sacked six times as Philly ran away with the game — the most he has taken in any start of his career.

At one point in the trailer for The Kingdom, he is seen with his head in his hands, while he also asks for the cameras to stop rolling in the locker room in another emotional moment.

“Cut the cameras,” he says, motioning to the crew to stop.

The new six-part original series is set to premiere on August 14 on ESPN, ESPN+, and Disney+.
