MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Wildcats announced associate head coach Matthew Driscoll will step in as the interim head coach for Kansas State men’s basketball.

Following the firing of Jerome Tang on Sunday night, Athletic Director Gene Taylor announced Driscoll would lead the squad.

“We talked to Coach Driscoll, and he will be the interim for the remainder of the season,” Taylor said.

The veteran coach became the winningest coach at North Florida and in Atlantic Sun Conference history during his 16-year coaching stint with the Ospreys from 2009-25.

He has 284 wins at North Florida and 144 wins in the ASC. In 2015, Driscoll led UNF to a conference tournament championship. In that same year, he led the Ospreys to the school’s first trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Driscoll has 37 years of coaching experience that ranges from high school, junior college, Division II and Division I levels.

Tang and Driscoll coached together at Baylor as a part of Scott Drew’s original staff from 2003-09.

In 2025, Tang announced the hiring of Driscoll has Kansas State’s associate head coach.
