Nearly 25 years after Kid Rock released “Cool, Daddy Cool,” the song has sparked newfound controversy.
Rock dropped “Cool, Daddy Cool” in 2001, two decades before he was tapped to headline Turning Point USA’s alternate 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
“We plan to play great songs for folks who love America,” Rock said in a February 2026 statement. “We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath. Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible … or is it?”
Rock’s halftime show will compete with Bad Bunny, who is slated to headline the official mid-game performance at Super Bowl LX.

What Are the Lyrics to ‘Cool, Daddy Cool?’
Kid Rock released “Cool, Daddy Cool” with Joe-C in 2001.
“See me cruisin’ in my Caddy, hoes, they like to call me daddy / Cool, when I’m stylin’, just rollin’ on my island,” the first verse reads. “Now just in case I pack heat, keep a case of brew in my backseat / Got a pocket full of cash, hey, got a fatty in my ashtray.”
The song continues, “Mackin’ to this phat beat, bass pushin’ through my backseat / You know I got that gangsta lean / Hoes, they all adore me, I stop and they all swarm me / To check out all my fly gold rings / They treat me like the mayor ’cause I’m the biggest player.”
Later in the song, Rock proclaims that he likes “underage” women.
“Now some people say my mind’s blown, I’m coolin’ like a snow cone / On my cell phone, I’m paid, G, can’t call me, just page me / Young ladies, young ladies, I like ’em underage,” the lyrics read. “Some say that’s statutory (But I say it’s mandatory) / My story ain’t that complex, two forties and a Rolex / I rip, I rock, I roll, G, I trim my hair with the Flowbee.”
‘Cool, Daddy Cool’ Appears on a Kids’ Movie Soundtrack
Kid Rock and Joe-C’s “Cool, Daddy Cool” is featured on the soundtrack for 2001’s animated movie Osmosis Jones. The film starred Bill Murray, Chris Rock, Laurence Fishburne, Brandy and more.

What Kid Rock Has Said About ‘Cool, Daddy Cool’
While Kid Rock has not addressed the latest “Cool, Daddy Cool” controversy, he’s long defended his music.
“I really didn’t change, like, I came out with middle fingers on my CDs, running my mouth,” Rock said on Theo Von’s “This Past Weekend” podcast in 2024. “I always say, and I sound redundant probably, but I haven’t changed — the times have changed. I’ve been doing the same thing since Day 1.”
Why ‘Cool, Daddy Cool’ Is Making Waves in 2026
Kid Rock’s “Cool, Daddy Cool” sparked backlash in February 2026 as social media users questioned the musician’s appearance in Turning Point USA’s alternative Super Bowl halftime show. (Turning Point is putting on the concert to “celebrate faith, family and freedom” in contrast to Bad Bunny’s performance on the main broadcast.)
“Wonder if Kid Rock will sing ‘Cool Daddy Cool?’” an X user tweeted. “Will Kid Rock be singing his song ‘Cool, Daddy Cool’ that contains these lyrics: ‘Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage,’ ‘See some say that’s statutory.’ ‘But I say it’s mandatory.’”
A second X user wrote, “Y’all are disgusting,” with another adding, “Gotta love his lyrics for Cool Daddy. Right on brand for the GOP [party].”
