Danny Rohl’s position at crisis club Sheffield Wednesday is back in doubt, talkSPORT understands.
Rohl belatedly returned to pre-season earlier this week amid talk of a takeover of the beleaguered Championship club.

But as previously reported, several senior players – including club legend Barry Bannan – rebelled against the German while the takeover by a mystery consortium has fallen through.
Controversial Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is believed to have promised the manager’s job to popular assistant boss Henrik Pedersen in anticipation of Rohl’s departure.
Pedersen oversaw first-team preparations for the new season in their head coach’s absence.
Sources have told talkSPORT Chansiri has held fresh talks with Rohl about his future following the players’ revolt.
There is still every chance Rohl leaves or is placed on gardening leave before the Championship season starts in three weeks time.
Rohl has been in charge of Wednesday since October 2023 and was appointed as the youngest manager in the EFL at 34 years old.
The now 36-year-old guided the club to a 12th-place finish last season, and penned a new long-term contract last summer.
But just one year on, his tenure with the Owls has erupted into chaos.
The club’s financial instability – capped off by late payments to their players and HMRC – was a catalyst for the unrest.
Wednesday entered a registration embargo due to financial irregularities and debts.

On June 18, the club were banned from signing new players for a transfer fee for the next three windows – until January 2027.
Wednesday were a mess from top to bottom – Rohl’s relationship with Chansiri soured, while the players did not fully back their boss.
In June, he admitted he was ready to leave Wednesday and instead manage in the Bundesliga ‘as soon as possible’.
“If it were up to me, as soon as possible,” the former Bayern Munich assistant told Bild when asked when he would return to the German top flight.
“The Bundesliga is obviously something special because I grew up with it. For me, it’s always about working at the highest level.
“I want to compete against the best teams, with the best coaches.”

But with talk of a surprise takeover, Rohl did a U-turn on his stance and was ready to stay at the club.
However, now that the prospect of a switch in ownership has fallen through, Rohl’s position has been cast back into doubt.
In his 89 games in charge of Wednesday, Rohl has won 34, drawn 21 and lost 34 – around a 38 per cent win rate.
The Yorkshire-based club kick off their Championship campaign away at Leicester on August 10.
