Raphinha once again proved why he remains a crucial figure in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona as the Brazilian winger delivered a decisive performance in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club.
Barcelona’s emphatic 5-0 victory not only sealed a place in the final but also highlighted the growing confidence and clarity within the squad.
Speaking shortly after the match, Raphinha was keen to underline that the scoreline did not tell the full story of the effort required to dominate a side like Athletic Club.
“When we are playing well, doing things right, defending and attacking well, I think the game becomes easier,” he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“It’s not that it’s an easy game, because playing against Athletic is always a very difficult game.
“They are a team with a lot of quality and many players who can decide a game. We are the ones who make the game easy or difficult.”
Appreciating the depth
Raphinha also took time to highlight the depth of Barcelona’s squad, something Flick has repeatedly emphasised since his arrival.
Rather than focusing solely on his own goals, the winger pointed to the impact of teammates stepping up when given opportunities.

“Whoever plays, we are always prepared and always give our best.”
The Brazilian was particularly pleased with the contributions of players returning to form or adapting quickly to Flick’s system.
“Roony has come in very well, Fermin has also come back very well now, and I think this shows a little bit the quality of the team.”
This internal competition only pushes Raphiinha further.
“I’m always going to look for my best level, and I’m going to keep trying to have a season that’s, if not perfect, almost perfect.”
Looking at the final
Attention has now shifted to the Super Cup final, with either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid waiting.
Unsurprisingly, Raphinha refused to show any preference, reinforcing the calm but confident mentality Barcelona are currently showing.
Asked about the potential opponent, he stated, “We are ready for whoever comes.”
He also sent a final message through the club’s media, underlining the belief within the dressing room by saying that “with this mentality, we have everything we need to win.”
