Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was fired up after his team pulled off a thrilling 13-12 win over the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday, December 28, and he had no problem letting Bills fans know it.
Walking off the field after the game, cameras caught him whooping in celebration before yelling, “There was a lot of talking by those Buffalo fans coming in. Not so much anymore!”
He then turned to wide receiver A.J. Brown, reiterating to him, “Not so much anymore!”
Despite being the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Eagles have tried to embrace an underdog role in 2025, with offensive tackle Jordan Mailata saying after the game that the team hasn’t gotten the respect it deserves.
Eagles' Jalen Hurts Got Into Verbal Altercation With Chiefs Players After Win
“For me, perspective-wise, I just don’t like when we’re not considered a heavyweight, and we’re like, ‘Oh, you guys have to match them,’” he said, per The Athletic. “That pisses me off. I think we deserve a little respect. Just a little bit, a little consideration.”
Sirianni, 44, also defended his team, which won its second game in a row, albeit in less-than-impressive fashion.
“If you come out of a football game when you win on the road in a hostile environment … against a really good football team that’s had the sustained success we have, if you come out of this and you’re just thinking about all the negative things that happened, that makes for a miserable existence,” he said.
The Eagles gained only 16 yards in the second half of their win on Sunday after jumping out to a 13-0 lead, and had to rely on their defense to stifle quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills.
Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Demanded a 'Low Class' Cigar After Super Bowl
Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts had a quiet game, throwing for only 110 yards and completing less than half of his passes. It was the second game this season in which he did not complete a pass in the second half, and somehow, the Eagles won both games. Hurts, 27, told reporters that he doesn’t mind the team winning ugly, as long as the Eagles come out on top.
“I don’t think it’s a conservative thing to have good ball security and be mindful that the turnover margin directly correlates with winning,” he said. “That’s a truth of the game and that’s a well-known fact of how we’ve been able to play over the past five years.”
Their third straight win put the Eagles at 11-5 on the season, and with the NFC East division title already in hand, they are legit contenders to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
“You’ve got to feel pretty good,” Sirianni said. “Three-game winning streak. In this league, three-game winning streaks are hard. Winning 11 games is hard. Winning the division is hard. …We’ll see what we do. We’ll see what we do this upcoming week. I think there’s still an opportunity for us to get the 2 seed. But I thought it was pretty important for us to play in this particular game. Fortunately, we got through this [healthy].”
The Eagles will finish the regular season at home against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, January 4.
