Let's kick off our preview of the Cotton Bowl with an overview look at the No. 2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
HEAD COACH - Ryan Day
Record at Ohio State: 82-11
Day was officially named the head coach at Ohio State in December of 2018 after taking over the Urban Meyer legacy in Columbus. Since he was named head coach, Day has led the Buckeyes to an 82-11 overall record, multiple playoff appearances and most recently a National Championship last season over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This season, Ohio State went undefeated in the regular season picking up signature wins over Texas in week one, Illinois on the road and ending the losing streak against Michigan at the end of the regular season.
Unfortunately, in their first appearance in the Big Ten Championship game since 2020, the Buckeyes fell to the Indiana Hoosiers 13-10. It was a rugged defensive battle but the takeaways were significantly different from the SEC Championship game. Ohio State is now the 2nd ranked team in the playoffs and is looking to repeat as national champions.
Offensive Coordinator: Brian Hartline (1st Season)
Defensive Coordinator: Matt Patricia (1st Season)
