The Dallas Cowboys failed in their quest. After placing a ton of pressure on themselves with a lackluster first half of the season, they entered their Week 10 bye with a underwhelming 3-5-1 record. The mission was clear; with the NFC looking incredibly competitive, they'd likely need to win out in order to have a chance at the postseason. Perhaps they could stumble once, but that was it.
They started off the second half of the season with a road win over the Raiders, then came with impressive comeback victories over last year's Super Bowl teams. Wins over the Eagles and the Chiefs, in a span of just four five days, made the outlandish seem impossible. But the Cowboys stubbed their toe when they returned to the road, falling to the Detroit Lions by double digits in Week 14.
With their playoff hopes now ridiculously long, the Cowboys will need to find the win column their next time out, or else prepare for the offseason in earnest.
Will it happen on Sunday?
Do the Dallas Cowboys play today?
Cowboys fans won't get to watch them in the early-game window. They won't be able to watch them in the late-game window, either. However the last four teams had their bye in Week 14, meaning all clubs are on the schedule this weekend. Thursday night saw the Atlanta Falcons upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leaving the Cowboys one of the two remaining primetime spots.
The Cowboys will host the Minnesota Vikings at AT&T Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
