Texas A&M's 2025 season will continue, as the Aggies made the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, and several key veterans, including starting quarterback Marcel Reed, wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, and senior edge Cashius Howell, who was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year earlier this week.

Howell's ascendance during his final collegiate season has been quite the journey for the Kansas City (MO) native, who, after winning SEC Defensive Player of the Year, was a finalist for the Lombardi Award, losing to Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, which was the expected result. Being a finalist for any of these prestigious awards is an honor, but winning is always the goal.

However, what is equally impressive is Howell's placement on three All-American teams, which now includes the Walter Camp All-America First Team (Defense), after recording an SEC-leading 11.5 sacks and over 40 pressures during the regular season. Echoing GigEm247 beat writer Carter Karels, Howell could also be named as an AP, AFCA, FWAA, and Sporting News All-American this month.

Set to host No. 10 Miami (10-2) in the first round of the CFP on Saturday, December 20, Howell will need to have one of his best performances of the year to force Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck into challenging passing situations and prevent the veteran signal caller from connecting with his elite receiving options.
