Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jemaine Burton is now a free agent capable of signing with any team in the NFL.

Whether any of the 31 other teams give Burton that chance remains to be seen.

The Bengals cut Burton this week after he was suspended for the game in Buffalo, exposing him to the waiver wire process.

Once that period ended, Burton wasn’t claimed.

If Burton is going to get another chance in the NFL, it’s likely going to come via a tryout and practice-squad basis. But pre-draft reporting suggested some teams didn't have them on their board for the 2024 draft and the way things played out Cincinnati likely lessened his chances.

Regardless of where Burton ends up, the Bengals have moved on, with Andrei Iosivas and Mitchell Tinsley the primary base-offense backups behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. The franchise saved roughly $2.4 million in cap salary by cutting Burton, but picked up roughly $1.5 million in dead money.
