Nominations for the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday, July 15.
What We Do in the Shadows actor Harvey Guillén, Running Point star Brenda Song and Television Academy chair Cris Abrego unveiled the list of nominees live from the Wolf Theatre at the TV Academy’s Saban Media Center ahead of the 77th annual ceremony, which will be held on September 14. (Fans could also livestream the announcement through the Emmy’s website.)
In a surprise moment, nominees in two categories were also announced earlier than expected during Tuesday’s edition of CBS Mornings.
Nate Bargatze is set to host the Emmys for the first time this year, the Television Academy announced in April. (The ceremony will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.)
Everything to Know About the 2025 Emmy Awards
“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” the comedian, 46, said in a statement at the time.
“Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” Abrego added. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”

Father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy cohosted the 2024 ceremony. At the time, Shōgun dominated the drama categories, Baby Reindeer was a big winner in the limited series categories and The Bear and Hacks both secured statues in the comedy categories.
