We’re getting closer to January, and transfer rumours are starting to hot up.

Chelsea aren’t expected to do much big business, but they will likely shuffle around some players on loan, and certainly they’ll continue their pattern of targeting talented young players. They’re finally starting to see the first team payoff from their work a few years ago bringing in the likes of Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian, and the conveyor belt has to keep being topped up at the far end.

To that end, the Blues have today been linked with interest in Lewis Day, according to news agency Hayters. Chelsea are apparently keen on the first year scholar, who has yet to sign a professional contract with Saints. After recovering from a long term injury, Day has continued his excellent progress and is considered one of the best talents in his age group in England.

Southampton have an excellent academy setup which Chelsea have raided before – they signed Tyler Dibling (now at Everton) and currently have Jimmy-Jay Morgan on the books, out on loan at Peterborough.

Day is a two footed centre back who looks to have tons of ability on the ball. Whether we sign him or not, one feels that top teams are going to be watching very closely as he develops in the next year or so.

In other news…

Robert Sanchez made some comments after Saturday’s game which a lot of fans won’t be too happy about – standards are on the floor right now.

Alejandro Garnacho was decent on the left wing last night – that was pretty much the only positive you could take from our attack, which was totally toothless despite the return of Cole Palmer.
