We’ve just been complaining about Robert Sanchez’s comments after the game on Saturday.
Chelsea drew 0-0 with Bournemouth, making it 3 games without a win. Sanchez then said that “if you can’t win a game, it’s better not to lose it.”
While that’s technically true, it also represents a pretty negative attitude which we don’t really agree with. It certainly isn’t the kind of thing you would have heard Ricardo Carvalho, one of the stars of Jose Mourinho’s legendary team, say.
Chelsea didn’t need to play well to win – now they do
The defender has been speaking a little about his time with the Blues. Carvalho is now an assistant coach for Portugal’s national team.
“Sometimes you have teams that need to play well to get results,” said Carvalho in an exclusive with the Irish Mirror.
“In that time at Chelsea, what I feel now when I think about it, is that team sometimes didn’t need to play so well to get results, because it was difficult to play against us.
“That was down to teamwork. Damien Duff was a winger but he was also defending, helping the team. Of course you also had Robben on the other side who was so quick that it was difficult to defend him. And then Didier Drogba was a great player up front.”
We don’t have any players on that level now – and we certainly don’t have players with the right attitude to win a title like they didn’t as far as we can tell.
In other news…
Beyond affairs on the pitch, Chelsea are continuing to target top young players from all over the world. The latest talent is from close to home – Southampton have produced another gem we’ve got our sights on.
Robert Sanchez made some comments after Saturday’s game which a lot of fans won’t be too happy about – standards are on the floor right now.
