PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers played host to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night looking to get back in the win column. The Sixers fell in double overtime on Sunday and were looking to take advantage of a young and struggling Wizards team.

The Sixers jumped out to a 16-point lead in the first half as they were moving the ball, getting good looks, and forcing turnovers. The Wizards, to their credit, didn't give up and made the game close in the second half, but Philadelphia eventually walked away with a 121-102 win to get back moving in the right direction.

Tyrese Maxey had 35 points, six assists, four rebounds, and four steals for Philadelphia, Paul George had 11 points and five rebounds, while Jared McCain had 14 points and five assists off the bench. Justin Edwards had nine points, Jabari Walker had 10 and 12 rebounds, and Dominick Barlow had 12 points while Andre Drummond added 12 and 10 rebounds.

Here are the player grades following the win:

Tyrese Maxey: A-plus

The Wizards were hopeless trying to defend Maxey in this one. They tried every scheme imaginable, but Maxey attacked with aggression and imposed his will on the game. He was relentlessly attacking the basket leading to plenty of easy baskets while also making plays for others with his passing. He caused so much trouble for Washington in this one and allowed the Sixers to get into a rhythm early in this one. He drilled a big triple early in the third to right the ship when Washington made it a game with a little spurt to open the half. His work allowed the Sixers to rebuild a comfortable lead. He put this game away in the third with a huge run to end the quarter and extend the lead for Philadelphia.

VJ Edgecombe: B-plus

The rookie, still on a minutes restriction as he works his way back from a left calf issue, gave the Sixers a little but of everything in this one. He knocked down a mid-range, had some good moments defensively, made plays with his passing, and delivered a highlight slam off the dribble. Edgecombe is still learning the way of the league, but he is such a smart player and it’s obvious that he will be a reliable player for a long time. He stuffed the box score for Philadelphia as he was helpful in all areas.

Paul George: A-minus

Still on a minutes restriction, George made the most of his minutes in this one. He was efficient with his 3-point shooting, used his size and strength to get into the paint and finish at the basket, and was terrific on the defensive end of the floor. George was also very good on the glass as he helped the Sixers immensely in the rebounding department. His catch-and-shoot 3-point shooting in this one as it helped the offense stay spaced with Washington having to pay so much attention to him.

Dominick Barlow: A

Barlow picked up a couple of early fouls which limited his effectiveness a bit in the early going, but he was able to give the Sixers some good production in all areas. He did a good job on the glass as he grabbed an offensive rebound and he was efficient around the basket. He made some big plays in the third to stem the tide a bit when the Wizards tried to make this one closer than it should have been. One has to give credit to the athletic forward for giving the Sixers production on both ends.

Andre Drummond: A-minus

He was questionable entering this contest due to the right knee issue, but Drummond was terrific in this one. He finished well around the basket, was aggressive on the glass per usual, and was helpful at the free-throw line. With the Wizards missing Alex Sarr in this one, it allowed Drummond to do his thing in the paint and give Philadelphia a boost. His minutes were limited again, but the Sixers were able to get some production out of him. His scoring to start the fourth was huge to keep Maxey on the bench and put an end to any thought of Washington creeping back into this one.

Jared McCain: A

The second-year guard was terrific in his initial stint. McCain hopped off the bench and gave the Sixers a big boost in terms of scoring the basketball. He got into the paint off the dribble and he also knocked down open 3s. He was very good off the bench in this one as his production continued in the second half as the Wizards couldn’t stay with him.

Justin Edwards: A

This was a terrific Edwards game. The Wizards left him open out on the perimeter and the second-year forward knocked down open 3s as if they were layups. He was efficient with his 3-point shooting and the Sixers needed it to keep the floor spaced.

Jabari Walker: A

The initial stint for Walker was fantastic. It has been a bit of a struggle with his 3-point shooting entering this contest, but he knocked down two big corner 3s right off the bat, grabbed a couple of tough rebounders, and was very good defensively. The Sixers have been waiting for a Walker game such as this one and he delivered.

Adem Bona: B

The energy Bona brought off the bench was obvious. He was moving all over the place defensively and gave the Wizards fits whenever they tried to go up for a rebound as he was tough to box out. The Sixers will certainly take this type of performance from him.
