The new college football playoff rankings are out and it isn't great news for Texas Football. The Longhorns actually jumped three spots No. 13, but there are probably too many teams in front of Texas for UT to get into the bracket.
Notre Dame is the lowest ranked at large team that is in the bracket. The Irish currently have the 10th seed. The No. 11 and 12 seeds are reserved for the ACC and Group of 5 champions. Notre Dame is No. 10 in the ranking. BYU is ranked No. 11 and Miami is ranked No. 12.
Notre Dame doesn't play again, so the Irish won't move down. Miami doesn't play in the ACC Championship game and so it's unlikely the Hurricanes will move down. BYU does play in the Big 12 Championship game and will probably lose to Texas Tech. But that's just one spot.
The College Football Playoff committee had two questions to answer. How far would Texas A&M fall and where would Ole Miss land without Lane Kiffin?

The only team that plays this weekend that has a chance to drop out of a playoff spot is Alabama. If Georgia thumps the Crimson Tide, Bama might fall out of the bracket. That means one team currently on the outside look in would make the playoff.
If form holds, that team would be Miami. Texas would be on the bubble. The first team out (Depending on where Alabama would land if they lose). That is the most likely scenario, UT misses the playoffs by a nose.
