Florida-based rapper Poorstacy has died after a reported “incident” in Boca Raton, Florida. He was 26.

The musician, real name is Carlito Milfort Jr., died on Saturday, November 29, the Boca Raton Police Department confirmed to multiple outlets on Monday, December 1.

The “incident” occurred at 2899 N. Federal Highway, where the hotel Boca By the Sea is located, Dylan Huberman, a spokesperson for the police department, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Boca Raton Fire Rescue arrived at the hotel shortly after 6 a.m. and transported Poorstacy as a trauma alert to Delray Medical Center, Lt. Karl Richards, a spokesperson for the fire department, told the outlet.

A hotel employee told TMZ, the first to report the news, that Poorstacy had been staying at the hotel for 10 days, checking in with a woman and a toddler. However, no one else was reported injured on Saturday and Poorstacy was the only person hospitalized, according to the outlet.

A cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

Poorstacy was known for blending the genres of emo rap, punk rap and punk rock. He frequently worked with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, who paid tribute to the late rapper via his Instagram Stories on Monday.

“Rest in peace you’ll never be forgotten,” Barker, 50, captioned a clip of himself and Poorstacy performing the latter’s 2020 song “Hills Have Eyes.”

He then posted a clip of their 2020 track “Choose Life.” (Barker and Poorstacy also collaborated on the song “Nothing Left” that same year.)

Poorstacy has also worked with Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes on several projects, including the former’s 2021 song “Knife Party.”

Sykes, 39, also paid tribute to the Palm Beach, Florida, native after his death.

“R.I.P,” the singer wrote over a photo of the pair, adding a black heart emoji.

Poorstacy gushed about his friendship with Sykes in a 2021 interview with Revolver.

“Oli sends me clothes that he thinks would look good on me,” he said at the time. “He sends me handwritten letters and we play Call of Duty until six in the f***in’ morning.”

Though Poorstacy spent his later years in Florida, he grew up moving between Queens and Brooklyn before New York ultimately became too expensive for his family, he told the outlet. He faced trouble in his teen years and spent time in juvenile detention centers.

“I was just really violent,” Poorstacy explained. “I would act out irrationally. I would either hurt myself for attention or I would hurt somebody else for attention.”

In addition to his work with other artists, Poorstacy featured on the 2020 Bill & Ted Face the Music movie soundtrack, which earned him a Grammy nomination. His most recent solo track, “Nothing belongs to you,” was released in July. In October, Poorstacy worked with Paris Shadows on the track “Last Time Around.”

Poorstacy’s final social media post came in August, when he took to Instagram with photos of himself sitting in a car. One of the snaps showed a small child in the background.

“Cause baby I’m a Beamer boy 🙄,” he captioned the post.
