Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan has had a tumultuous relationship with his fianceé, Johnnie Faye Cartwright.
The pair got engaged in November 2021, shortly after Bryan agreed to a plea deal in the domestic violence case against him and his former girlfriend. At the time, the actor pled guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault. (Bryan received three years of probation and prosecutors agreed to drop six other charges against him, including strangulation and coercion.)
Bryan and Cartwright went on to welcome daughter Kennedy and twins Parker and Sequoia in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Nearly two years after the birth of their twins, Bryan and Cartwright were arrested after an incident in the Fall Creek area of Oregon in November 2025.

According to a police statement via Facebook, Bryan was driving in a pickup truck with Cartwright and their three kids before he allegedly got out of the car and began walking down a road.
“Cartwright then attempted to run over Bryan, crashing the truck with the children inside into the ditch,” police claimed in the statement. “Bryan was able to move out of the way and avoid injury. No one inside the pickup was injured.”
Cartwright was arrested for Attempted Assault in the 1st Degree, three counts of Recklessly Endangering and DUI while Bryan was arrested for a probation violation on an original charge of assault in the 4th degree.
“The involved children were placed with a family member,” police shared.

Cartwright and Bryan announced their engagement in November 2021 in a since-deleted social media post.
“You win some and you lose some,” he wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of him hugging Cartwright while she showed off her ring. “I’m thankful for a win … finally!”

After Bryan was arrested following an alleged physical dispute with a woman in July 2023, Cartwright spoke out in support of Bryan. (He was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor — assault, robbery and harassment.)
“I’ll always want what’s best for the father of my children,” Cartwright said in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly in August 2023. “Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It’s a horrible situation that’s going to be spun in so many ways.”

Cartwright went on to say that she’s “learned firsthand the truth will never align with what’s been put out there.”
“I ask everyone to please be respectful of our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so the healing process can begin,” she shared.
In October 2023, Bryan pleaded guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence. As a result of his plea, Bryan was expected to receive a “downward dispositional departure” to 36 months of supervised probation, seven days in jail and to abide by a set of conditions typical of domestic violence cases.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon, Bryan and Cartwright were both arrested after she attempted to run over Bryan and crash their pickup truck with their children inside into a ditch.
“Bryan was able to move out of the way and avoid injury. No one inside the pickup was injured,” police wrote in a statement shared via Facebook in December 2025, noting that after the couple were interviewed police allegedly observed that they were both impaired.
After interviewing witnesses on the scene and a court order in which Bryan was not supposed to be in contact with Cartwright, the actor was arrested for “a probation violation on an original charge of Assault in the 4th Degree.”

Meanwhile, Cartwright was also arrested for “Attempted Assault in the 1st Degree, three counts of Recklessly Endangering and DUII.”
“The involved children were placed with a family member,” the police added.
Nearly one day after the police’s statement, Cartwright appeared before a judge and pleaded not guilty to one count of driving under the influence, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and three counts of reckless driving, per court records obtained by Us Weekly.
According to the records, Cartwright’s alleged assault and two counts of recklessly endangering were “cleared.”
