Michigan football captain Max Bredeson emerged through the doors that lead from the blocked off portions of Schembechler Hall and into the Towsley Museum to address reporters riding a scooter with his right foot in a walking boot on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

The tight end/fullback left the first half of U-M's victory over Maryland last week and emerged in the second half with crutches. Earlier in the week, coach Sherrone Moore said Bredeson's X-rays "didn't look great."

Ohio State Buckeyes cornerback Davison Igbinosun (1) locks up with Michigan Wolverines tight end Max Bredeson (44) during the NCAA football game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024. Michigan won 13-10.

Despite all of that, the former walk-on turned two-time captain for the No. 15 Wolverines (9-2, 7-1 Big Ten) implied there's a good chance the fifth-year senior plays Saturday against No. 1 Ohio State (11-0, 8-1) in Ann Arbor (Fox, Noon).

"Feeling good, feeling better each day, and ready to go," Bredeson said. "We're doing everything in our power, be ready to play on Saturday and feel good about it. Really good about it."

Bredeson sustained the unspecified injury on his second catch of the year, when he received a checkdown pass from Bryce Underwood and bulldozed his way up field for 7 yards on a third-and-4 play.

Bredeson did not practice on Tuesday since there are "precautions" to take but he was putting weight on the foot as he said he, coaches and doctors want to make sure it's handled "the right way."

Running back Jordan Marshall, who Bredeson picked as a future captain, spoke with media moments later and took it a step farther in terms of his confidence for Bredeson.

"I think you guys know that Breddy would do anything for this team," Marshall said. "He's a captain of this team for a reason. ... He's gonna play. I know he's gonna go out there and try to get as many snaps as he can.

"That's Breddy, that's blue collar, that's what we talk about every single day."

Michigan will certainly be without its other two-time captain, Rod Moore, who Sherrone Moore said is likely done for the season. Linebacker Ernest Hausmann, a captain who wearsthe green dot helmet with radio communications with coachs, is day to day.

But Bredeson, who is 4-0 against the Buckeyes, appears to be trending in a positive direction, which would be not only a major tangible benefit, but a massive morale boost for the entire squad.

"It'd be awesome," Bredeson said about the prospect of finishing his career 5-0 vs. OSU. "I mean, it's everything. ... That'd be the greatest honor I've known, to be undefeated."
