Three months after opening the 2025 campaign against one another, Tennessee and North Carolina face off again Friday, with one advancing in the NCAA tournament and the other going home.

The Lady Vols set the tone for both teams' seasons in a 2-0 win on Aug. 14, propelling themselves into the national rankings and putting a damper on the Tar Heels' hopes of repeating as national champions.

Tennessee (12-3-3) entered the NCAA tournament at No. 9 in the RPI and earned a No. 3 seed in its quadrant, while North Carolina (12-6) didn't even make the ACC tournament field and is unseeded for NCAAs.

Still, the Tar Heels were surely the one team the national seeds didn't want to see opposite them in the brackets and should be a tough out a year after claiming their 23rd NCAA title. The duo that spearheaded last year's title run, Kate Faasse and Olivia Thomas (13 goals), remains a dangerous one-two punch for UNC.

The Lady Vols have relied on their defense since losing top scoring threat Shae O'Rourke to a torn ACL after five games. Tennessee has allowed only nine goals in 18 games while posting 13 clean sheets.

Who will move on to the next round? Here's everything you need to know to tune in.
