ESPN's Brian Windhorst does not need a time machine to grasp Wilt Chamberlain's mythical greatness, because with the way Nikola Jokic is playing right now, he is on his way to carving out another otherworldly statistical season similar to the NBA great's legendary performances in the past.
The three-time MVP showed out against the Los Angeles Clippers, recording 55 points, 12 rebounds and six assists to lead the Denver Nuggets to their sixth straight victory. And the NBA world could not help but marvel at Jokic's greatness.

As tough a critic as Windhorst usually is, he, too, was in disbelief with Jokic's outing and current numbers through 11 games, comparing it to the mythical Chamberlain.
"I wasn't alive when Wilt Chamberlain had these numbers. You hear about these seasons…I don't believe any of that,"Windhorst said on NBA Today. "He's doing Wilt Chamberlain-type stuff now. I know we're 11 games in. I got to calm down."
Windy breaks down Jokic's numbers
The Nuggets currently sit in second place in the Western Conference with a 9-2 record, behind the 12-1 Oklahoma City Thunder. And Jokic, as always, is a big reason why.
The 2023 finals MVP is averaging a triple-double of 28.8 points,13.1 rebounds and 10.9 assists, and he is doing so at an efficiency that has left fans and pundits like Windy in awe.
Aside from leading the league in rebounds and assists, Jokic is shooting 78.3 percent on 2-pointers. According to Windhorst, when the center is on the court, the Nuggets are scoring 151 points and holding their opponents to 104 points per 100 possessions – highlighting Jokic's impact on both ends of the floor.
Team-wise, Denver has the second-best offense and defense in the league, with ratings of 122.6 and 109.4, respectively. For Windy, if Jokic's brilliance continues, then other teams, especially the defending champions, in the West are in big trouble.
"I'm not taking a single thing away from Oklahoma City," the ESPN reporter said. "Denver has a man who is playing at the absolute peak of his powers. Nothing can be taken away from him… Look out."
Big Perk believes Jokic is happier
For ESPN's Kendrick Perkins, Jokic's current level of play cannot solely be attributed to his generational talent.
He believes that this year's Nuggets roster has been perfect – from starters to bench players – and playing team basketball, especially the new additions, which have allowed the franchise centerpiece to shine even more.
Tim Hardaway Jr. has been living up to his billing as the team's main sniper. He is averaging 11 points off the bench on 45.6 percent field goal shooting and 45.9 percent 3-point shooting. Jonas Valanciunas has proven himself capable of serving as a backup center to Jokic, with 8.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
Cam Johnson has yet to break out of his shooting slump – with 7.2 points per game on 37.2 shooting from the field and a dismal 21.1 percent from deep. However, he has been making the right plays, helping the Nuggets create a smoother offense.
"He seems like he's in a happy place. Last year, we saw a lot of frustration," Perkins said. "All of a sudden, you bring in team guys, now we're seeing a more energetic Jokic and a better Jokic, which is scary as hell."
If "The Joker" sustains his Chamberlain-esque form and his supporting cast keeps playing like this, then the Nuggets will truly be the team to beat in the West. The Minnesota Timberwolves will have their second taste of the Nuggets this season on Nov. 16 at home.
