Portugal welcome the Republic of Ireland to the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Saturday evening for another crucial Group F clash in the World Cup Qualifiers.

The hosts are unbeaten in their first two games against Armenia and Hungary and now take on Ireland to try to further seal the top spot for a route to the North America 2026 World Cup.
Ireland opened their opening Group game in these qualifiers to Hungary just last month in an entertaining 2-2 drama-filled draw.
Adam Idah netted a last minute equaliser against ten men of Hungary who’d held on for much of the second half down a man.

Up against Portugal they will need to defend better as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes all capable of taking the chances when they arise.
Portugal beat Armenia 5-0 in their opening game and then beat Hungary 3-2 in another dramatic game involving the nation.
Silva equalised in the 36th minute before Ronaldo put the side 2-1 up via a penalty before the hour mark.
Hungary looked to equalise and seal a draw in the 84th as they rarely got forward, in fact that was only their second shot on target, but Portugal had a virtually instant reply with Joao Cancelo netting less than two minutes later.
Portugal are the huge favourites for this and Ireland will welcome the challenge but need to do better to keep this side out.
