Dak Prescott is the highest-paid player in NFL history, so he must be doing something right.

The superstar quarterback is the main man on America’s Team, but hasn’t been able to restore the glory days for the franchise.

Back in 2023, fans couldn’t help but notice the quarterback yelling the phrase ‘yeah here we go!’ on pretty much every snap.

Aaron Rodgers said at the time that it helped the Cowboy become one of his top quarterbacks.

“First, I want to talk about Dak. Because he’s become one of my favourite quarterbacks to watch,” Rodgers said on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’

“I’m watching him use his cadence beautifully and get into this rhythmic ‘here we go’ using it as a dummy sometimes, into other cadences,” he added.

Although the snap cadence may not seem all that important, it’s actually crucial for a quarterback to orchestrate an NFL offense.

The cadence is usually made up of a series of phrases or familiar set of words that let the offense know what play to run while also trying to catch defenses off guard.

Prescott switched his cadence up two years ago following former Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore moving to the Los Angeles Chargers.

He previously used to yell the phrase ‘white 80 set,’ and more change is potentially on the horizon.

Dak Prescott’s new cadence

New head coach Brian Schottenheimer hinted that Prescott could use a brand-new cadence during a press conference in May.

Fans were split on the potential switch.

Injuries have seen a promising career stall

“This was dak’s signature. Schotty don’t make the people turn on you already,” wrote one.

“NOOOOO IT WAS ICONIC,” added another.

“Good. If they’re gonna be serious, then that gotta go,” a third wrote.

Schottenheimer’s head coaching debut is a massive primetime test against the Philadelphia Eagles to open the 2025 season.

All eyes will be on The Boys on Thursday evening after Jerry Jones traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Prescott has a 9-4 record against the Eagles and was in bullish mood after watching his NFC rivals win the Super Bowl.

“I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat them, for the most part, when we play them,” Prescott said in February.

“I don’t want to say ‘check the record’ when they’re the guys holding the trophy right now, so credit to them. They earned it and they deserve it, by all means, but yeah, very close.”

What has happened to Dak Prescott?

It has been a rough few years for the Cowboys — the NFL’s most expensive franchise with a $13 billion valuation — as Prescott struggled with injury.

The $240,000,000 passer went down in Week 9 last season and watched his team limp to a 7-10 record to miss the playoffs.

Quarrelsome wide receiver George Pickens’ arrival from the Pittsburgh Steelers raised expectations, but losing Parsons was a huge blow.

Many believe that Jones, who landed two first-round picks and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark from Green Bay, should plan for the future, but the oil mogul claims the move has made his team better right now.

“We can win more games than we would, had we gone the other route and signed Micah,” Jones insisted.

“Our judgment is this gives us a better chance to be a better team than we have been the last several years, while Micah has been here.”

Jones paid Prescott $60 million a season and shelled out  $136 million to tie down star wideout CeeDee Lamb.

With big checks, come big expectations. Cadence is important but all that matters in Jerry’s World is results.
