The pregnancy plot twist rumors just keep on coming up as The Summer I Turned Pretty prepares to wrap up its third and final season.

After the Prime Video’s explosive wedding episode, which aired on Wednesday, August 27, a fan took to TikTok with a post highlighting the scenes between Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah’s (Gavin Casalegno) dad, Adam (Tom Everett Scott), and his new girlfriend, Kayleigh (Emma Ishta).

“Did you notice the wine glass Kayleigh’s been holding,” read the caption for a video highlighting Adam and Kayleigh’s interactions on screen. “No one realizes she’s already pregnant with Adam’s baby.”

Some viewers agreed with the theory that Kayleigh not visibly drinking was a sign of a story line surprise. “U might be right bro. I’m tired,” read a response while someone else wrote, “This is NOT what Susannah would’ve wanted.”

What 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Cast Teased About Love Triangle Outcome

Others were not as convinced. “Nah it’s bc she’s not of age,” a fan joked in response to Adam and Kayleigh’s age gap. Meanwhile, another comment questioned the purpose of introducing a pregnancy, adding, “But there’s only 3 more episodes left and if it follows the books then it will be a time jump, so what purpose does it serve.”

There were also several comments poking fun at how this could relate to the love triangle at the center of the show.

“Another brother for Belly to fall in love with,” wrote a social media user.

The Summer I Turned Pretty, which premiered in 2022, is based on Jenny Han‘s book series of the same name that focuses on Belly (Lola Tung), who gets caught up in a love triangle with brothers Conrad and Jeremiah. After exploring her feelings for Conrad, Belly started to question whether Jeremiah was her perfect match.

In the original book trilogy, Belly made her final choice in We’ll Always Have Summer. That doesn’t mean that the decision will play out the same way in the show’s final season.

“I do feel like there’s a strong chance that that’s a possibility,” Casalegno exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2023 about the show potentially straying from the original events in the books. “Obviously, I know where [my character Jeremiah] ends up going and what ends up happening. But I don’t emphasize on that. Because I think Jenny writes it so well that I’m able to kind of get there naturally without having to force it in a certain direction.”

Tung, meanwhile, explained why she didn’t mind the show not following the book exactly.

“The one thing I’ve always admired about Jenny is that every season and every decision about what’s coming next is purely to serve the story,” she told Entertainment Weekly in March. “She’s never going to do anything that doesn’t make sense for the story.”

Tung continued: “It’s all about this beautiful world she’s created and giving the fans something really, really special and giving us something really special to work with.”

When viewers last saw Belly, she and Jeremiah called off their wedding and she left for Paris. She was about to board the plane when she noticed Conrad at a nearby gate, which was a departure from Han’s books where there was a time jump before Belly and Conrad reunited again.

The trailer for the last three episodes showed Belly enjoying her time abroad Emily in Paris style before receiving a letter from Conrad.

The Summer I Turned Pretty airs on Prime Video Wednesdays.
