Congratulatory messages don’t come much better than what Tommy Fleetwood received from Tiger Woods last on Sunday night.

After a string of well-documented near misses, Fleetwood held his nerve to finally break through on the PGA Tour at the TOUR Championship.

He produced a brilliant display to keep Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantly and Russell Henley at bay, securing a three-shot win to claim the $10million prize and also become the 2025 FedEx Cup Champion.

While a prolific winner in Europe and around the world, Fleetwood’s struggles to get over the line on American soil have become a main talking point in the game.

The 34-year-old Englishman has recorded six runner-ups and 44 top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour and has come close multiple times this season.

Now, he has rubber stamped his worldwide quality with one of the biggest wins in golf and 15-time major champion Tiger Woods was quick to send his best wishes.

Woods posted on his social media channels: “Your journey is a reminder that hard work, resilience, and heart do pay off.

“No one deserves it more. Congrats Tommy Fleetwood!”

After Fleetwood sunk his short par putt on the 18th at East Lake Golf Club to confirm his win, he let out a huge roar to toast his long overdue win.

His European Ryder Cup team-mates Shane Lowry and Justin Rose were on hand to congratulate him as was his stepson Oscar.

As Fleetwood made his way through his adoring fans on his way to sign his scorecard, USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley was seen giving his congratulations in the locker-room too.

Rose posted: “This felt as good as winning myself!

“So happy for my man Tommy Fleetwood for enduring the relentless pressure cooker his quality golf has put him in during these playoffs and there is no more deserving champ.”

Fleetwood carded a final round of 68 to secure a three-shot win over Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay.

“I was a bit erratic today at times and I was really proud of how I found my swing again on the 11th or 12th hole,” he said.

“I changed my routine a little bit, but still when you’ve lost it so many times, a three-shot lead down the last doesn’t feel like that many.

“I am just so happy I got it done, happy with my work ethic and I’ll continue to try and get better to be the best I can be.”

Asked about his own fan base, Fleetwood said: “Yeah, they’re amazing and it makes me a bit emotional. Always so lucky with the support I get.
