Manchester United started their Premier League campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford. However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Red Devils.
Fulham started their season with a credible 1-1 draw away to Brighton thanks to a last-gasp Rodrigo Muniz equaliser. Their task won’t be any easier this week against Ruben Amorim’s new look United.

Fulham vs Man Utd predictions
Fulham will host Manchester United at Craven Cottage on Matchday 2 of the new Premier League season.
The Cottagers will be looking to build on the point they gained in the dying seconds of their match with Brighton, thanks to super-sub Rodrigo Muniz’s close range finish in the dying seconds.
Despite the credible 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium, all is not well with Fulham. In the aftermath of the match, manager Marco Silva stated that the club have been passive in the transfer market.
Silva knows that their one incoming signing of Benjamin Lecomte is nowhere near enough to compensate for the losses of the likes of Reiss Nelson, Carlos Vinicius and Willian.
His comments can be taken as a sign of his frustration – and on the surface, Silva would appear to be correct.
Manchester United’s 2025/26 season seemed to pick up from where the previous one finished. The Red Devils crashed to a 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, but there were plenty of positives to take from the defeat.
New signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both had impressive Premier League debuts for the club. Mason Mount had a good runout and seems to be part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, and another new signing, Benjamin Šeško, also got minutes off the bench.
United’s performance was a pretty good benchmark. If they can play like that this season, they will do far better than they did in the previous campaign.
The stats show United had 62 percent possession with 22 shots at goal (seven on target), compared to Arsenal’s 38 percent and nine efforts at goal (three on target).
The stats might be a touch misleading, given Arsenal went more defensive after taking a 13th minute lead, but they are a positive for Manchester United.
And what of the goal that United conceded? Well, this looks set to be the next big issue that Rubem Amorim has to deal with.
The United head coach brought Altay Bayindir in to replace Andre Onana for the opening match of the season. It was a big call, and Amorim was at pains to point out it was purely a tactical decision.
Bayindir was clearly at fault for the goal. But Amorim surely has to back him against Fulham after making such a big call on the opening weekend of the season.

Fulham vs Man Utd betting tips
Manchester United did the double over Fulham last season, winning 1-0 at both Old Trafford and Craven Cottage. The Red Devils are favourites to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League. Our match betting tips follow:
Man Utd set to get opening win of the season
As we have just pointed out above, Manchester United have a good recent record against Fulham, having completed the double over the Londoners last season.
Moving onto this season, and even though Fulham achieved the better result last weekend, United looked like the team to emerge from the opening weekend with the more positives.
If both teams perform as they did in their respective opening matches, we can see a win for the Red Devils. At odds against, and with their recent head-to-head league domination, United are worth backing to win in the match winner betting market.
Tip – Bet on Manchester United to win at 21/20 with Spreadex
New boy Cunha to deliver
Both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo enjoyed impressive debuts against Arsenal last weekend.
If he’s deemed fit enough, another new signing, Benjamin Šeško is likely to come into the side in the central role, leaving Mbeumo and Cunho to play in the more deep lying roles.
One of the new signings will make their breakthrough for United soon enough.
After scoring a brace and providing one assist for his previous club Wolves at Craven Cottage last season, Matheus Cunha will have fond memories of playing in west London.
Either Cunha or Mbeumo could be involved in a goal for United this weekend, but given this is a bit of a happy hunting ground for Cunha, we are going to back the Brazilian.
If you do prefer Mbeumo in this market, he is 11/8.
Tip – Back Matheus Cunha to score or assist at 11/10 with Paddy Power
Man Utd to win or draw and over 1.5 goals is good alternative bet
We’ve seen a few false dawns at Manchester United over the years. For some time now, just when you think it’s safe to back a United win, they go and throw in a stinker of a performance.
However, Fulham have had a shocking transfer window. The club seems to be standing still at best, with no notable incomings and many outgoings. There is also speculation that Rodrigo Muniz may be leaving as well.
Marco Silva can’t keep performing miracles. His team are more than competitive, but there must be a negative feeling around the club after their quiet summer.
Even if United don’t quite perform to the same standard they did against Arsenal last weekend, there is still a chance they can get a result.
This is because United now have a serious goal threat. As well as Cunha and Mbeumo, the Red Devils also have Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Šeško.
Just in case United don’t get the win, we are looking at a cover bet on the Red Devils to win or draw, with over 1.5 goals in the match. This covers a 1-1 draw, or a 2-1 or 2-0 win for Amorim’s team.
Tip – Man Utd to win or draw and over 1.5 match goals at 7/10 with Ladbrokes
