AC Milan are in talks with United over a potential move for the £40m rated Hojlund, who had previously started his desire to stay after rejecting RB Leipzig during the Sesko negotiations.

Milan would prefer a loan deal with a buy option at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old joined Manchester United from Atlanta in August 2023 for a £72m package. He’s gone on to score 26 goals in 95 games, but has struggled for consistency.

Hojlund told assembled media in America that he wants to ‘stay and fight for my spot’.

Hojlund was discussed as a separate deal by Leipzig during Sesko talks, but talkSPORT understands the Manchester United forward was not keen on a move.

Now that stance has changed and he could now leave the Red Devils for a £32m loss.

Benjamin Sesko signed

United finally confirmed the arrival of the Slovenian striker on Saturday from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £66.3million with £7.4m in add-ons on Saturday.

They fought off competition from Newcastle to sign Sesko, another attacking addition after Mathus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

He was paraded on the Old Trafford pitch before their friendly with Fiorentina on Saturday.

Speaking on his arrival: “The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future.

“When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.

“From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created.

“It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions.

“I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben [Amorim] and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.”

More Man United transfers

Man United are now primarily focused on outgoings, although a new midfielder is possible.

An enquiry, via intermediaries, was made for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. Brighton’s preference is to keep until at least summer 2026.

Alejandro Garnacho is the most advanced of the potential Old Trafford exits with Chelsea in club-to-club talks.

Garnacho wants the move, and Chelsea believe Manchester United’s £70m asking price in January has dropped significantly.

Manchester United sources insist Garnacho is valued at £50m or more, but Chelsea are hoping to strike a deal for under £40m.

Jadon Sancho and Antony are two other players expected to exit before the window shuts.
