Piers Morgan has clarified his comments that Jake Paul’s boxing career has been ‘staged’ in a bid to avoid legal proceedings.

The YouTuber released a statement on social media, claiming to have threatened to sue the British journalist following their recent feud.

Paul had stormed out of an interview in June with former TV presenter Morgan, who now identifies himself as a YouTube star.

The 60-year-old criticised the Problem’s Child victory over Mike Tyson to spark a war of words between the two.

The fight became the most-streamed sporting event ever, but it was widely panned due to Tyson’s age (59) and lack of competitiveness.

Following Morgan’s comments, Paul went on a furious tirade, fat-shaming the ex-ITV and talkTV presenter before ending their call.

The 28-year-old has now secured another victory over a middle-aged man, who described his boxing career as ‘boring staged bull***t’.

Morgan has taken to X to release a statement clarifying those comments, but insisted he wasn’t issuing any ‘apology’ or retraction.

He wrote: “I posted a few weeks ago that Jake Paul’s boxing career has been “boring staged bulls***.”

“What I meant is that his fights have been predominantly against older, past-their-prime opponents, which may be lucrative for both sides, and may have entertainment value.

“But don’t reveal how he stacks up against currently ranked boxers and therefore are not a good look for the sport.

“I did not intend to suggest that the outcome was predetermined and certainly didn’t mean to suggest anything illegal.

“But if reports are correct that Jake is now in negotiations to fight Anthony Joshua, that would obviously be a seriously credible bout against one of the best heavyweights in the world.

“Jake is welcome to come on Uncensored to discuss this, and verbally slug it out with me, anytime.”

Did Piers Morgan apologise to Jake Paul?

Morgan first had to slug it out with reports suggesting his statement was an act of apology or a retraction from his original comments.

In a follow-up tweet, the World War Z cameo actor added: “I didn’t issue any apology, grovelling or otherwise.

“I clarified I didn’t mean he fixed results, because I didn’t.”

What has Jake Paul said about Piers Morgan?

‘El Gallo’ made his stance clear with numerous reactionary posts on his Instagram story, having reposted Morgan’s ‘clarification’.

Paul wrote alongside a screenshot of the latter’s statement: “The first peasant that I sue gets on his knees and apologizes.

“Who am I suing next for lying on my name?”

Paul then shared an AI-generated image of himself wearing a crown, on a throne, while Morgan kneels alongside him and kisses his hand.

The caption read, “Kiss the ring, bubba.”

A third post said: “If anyone says my fights are staged, you will be sued, and secondly, you’re a jealous ass peasant who cannot even believe how good I am at this sport, and you should go to church to fix your insecurities.

“I pray for you because I have so much love humanity, and that includes the people who are against me.

“Genuinely, I pray for you and I want the world to be in a better place,” with a heart hands emoji. “You people are filled with a disease and I’m here to help you cure it.”

What is Jake Paul’s record?

Paul has now competed in 13 professional fights in his boxing career.

He extended his record to 12-1 after beating former WBC middleweight king Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

His one defeat came against Tommy Fury in February 2023.
