Crystal Palace claimed victory in the 2025/26 Community Shield with a penalty shootout win over Liverpool.

After a 2-2 draw at Wembley, the Eagles prevailed 3-2 on spot kicks, with young Justin Devenny the hero.

With the scores level at 2-2 in the shootout, Devenny stepped up and rifles his effort into the top corner to seal another trophy for Oliver Glasner’s men.

The game started with a first Reds goal for Hugo Ekitike after great play from Florian Wirtz.

Virgil van Dijk then tripped Ismaila Sarr in the box, and Jean-Philippe Mateta scored from the spot.

Jeremie Frimpong restored Liverpool’s lead with a fluke before Sarr equalised in the second half after Van Dijk stepped out of defence.

During the shootout, Mohamed Salah skied his spot kick, while Dean Henderson stopped Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott.

That handed Devenny the chance to win it, and he made no mistake lashing his spot kick into the top corner.
