"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kandi Burruss is facing backlash online after fans began theorizing whether she was a supporter of President Donald Trump.
After sharing a video of her in-depth interview with fellow reality star Todd Chrisley, who was recently pardoned and released from federal prison by Trump, members of the Bravoverse began slamming Kandi Burruss for allegedly pledging her allegiance to the current Commander-in-Chief.
'Real Housewives' Fans Are Upset With Kandi Burruss For Seemingly Pledging Her Allegiance To Donald Trump
Earlier this week, Burruss, who began appearing in episodes of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" in 2009, shared a snippet of her interview with "Chrisley Knows Best" star Todd, who has been on a press tour since being released from "Federal Prison Camp" in Pensacola, Florida, in the summer of 2025.
On her Instagram, Burruss told her followers that the reality star, who stars in the new docuseries, "The Chrisleys," had much to say about his family life, religious beliefs, things he wishes he could change about his legal situation, and much more.
And that's not all that Burruss and Todd touched on. In another teaser clip for the interview, Todd also opened up to Burruss about his finances and the affair he was accused of having with his male business partner.
Although Burruss likely hoped the interview would be met with a positive reaction from the public, she experienced quite the opposite.
In fact, many users rushed to social media to slam the mother of three for allegedly supporting a family that was found guilty of fraud crimes and being a supporter of President Trump's "Make America Great Again" agenda.
Social Media Reacts To Kandi Burruss' Interview With Todd Chrisley

On Reddit, a user posted about Burruss' interview with Todd and asked the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" subreddit whether they believed Burruss was a "MAGA" supporter, considering the Chrisley family hasn't been shy about hiding their love for the politician. One user replied almost instantly, writing that the Bravo star only "cares about money ... as most rich people do."
A second user agreed and shared how they believe Burruss has "really proven herself to be a piece of sh-t person ever since she got off of the show." Another person wrote that Burruss could be a Trump supporter because she's "loyal to no one but Kandi. And money."
Someone else also chimed in and blasted the Grammy winner for being "garbage," pointing to her alleged support of Sean "Diddy" Combs and past behavior during seasons of "RHOA."
"Questionable at best. Very dark at worst," they commented.
Kandi Burruss Faced Backlash In The Past For Showing Support To The Chrisley Family

And this wouldn't be the first time Burruss has faced pressure from social media users about her close relationship with the Chrisley family. Following their release from prison, Burruss commented on Chase Chrisley's Instagram post, congratulating the 29-year-old for being reunited with their family. The "No Scrubs" writer also posted about how "happy" she was to see everything work out in their favor.
An online fan account noticed Burruss' comment and shared it on X, formerly Twitter, which prompted even more people to question the former "Real Housewives" star's intentions. However, Burruss clapped back at the haters and defended her relationship with Todd and his family.
"What's the problem?" she wrote in June 2025, as reported by The Blast. "Todd [and] I were cool before he ever had this legal issue." Burruss added, "I'm happy that him [and] Julie are out of jail. What y'all so pressed for? Me being happy for them has nothing to do with my political beliefs."
Why Were The Chrisleys Sent To Prison?

For those unfamiliar with the Chrisleys' legal woes, in November 2022, Todd and Julie were sentenced to 12 and seven years, respectively, in federal prison, according to the United States Attorney's Office in Georgia. The legal documents reveal that the Chrisley family was found guilty of defrauding banks out of "tens of millions of dollars" while also failing to pay taxes from 2013 to 2016.
U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said the reality TV couple worked together to defraud community banks in certain parts of Atlanta out of more than $35 million in personal loans. To obtain the loans, Buchanan said the Chrisleys submitted a number of falsified documents, including bank statements and audit reports.
The legal documents also revealed that Todd and Julie used the money that they obtained from personal loans on "luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel." The family then later used "new fraudulent loans to pay back old ones."
Donald Trump Pardoned The Chrisleys
Throughout their legal issues, the Chrisleys always maintained their innocence. Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, fought vigorously for her parents while they were incarcerated, attending appeal hearings and calling on President Trump's administration to review the facts of their case.
In May 2025, Trump called Savannah to inform her that her efforts had not gone unnoticed and that her parents would be pardoned and released from custody, before wishing the rest of her family well.
Online, Savannah praised Trump and thanked him for his decision, saying, "I will forever be grateful to President Trump, his administration, and everyone along the way."
Her brother, Chase, also shared a post of his own, writing, "We love, support, and thank you, Mr. President! God bless you and your entire family! Continue to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!"
